October and Halloween

For Halloween this year Grant went as a snowboarder. Everyone thought that he was an Eskimo until he turned around and they were able to see his snowboard. He stayed warm all night long as we went to the ward chili cook-off and the trunk-or-treat. He got us lots of candy but we promised that we would share with him :)

This month has been a hectic but uneventful month. We have both been trying to get back on track with school projects and such. I finished my 20 page paper along with an 8 page paper for my classes. Joseph was able to let me take the time to do these awful papers and he was able to stay on top of his classes.

We are still trying to figure out the whole grad-school thing. As Joseph went through the application process we found (as we should have expected) that we won't know where we are going to go possibly until March 2011. So we finished all of the application process except decided to wait on sending his transcripts from SUU until he has his final grades. Might as well when the application isn't due until Jan or Feb. We don't know what we are going to do until then but when we do find out we have to make a mad dash to the new "home" to gain residency as soon as possible.

Grant is doing especially well. He has learned to say a few words that include: wow (he usually says it after some loud noise is made), mamma, dadda, dagh dagh (dog), that, this, and it. He knows where and "fetches" things such as the moo-cow, his shoes (he knows we are going outside so he is very excited to get these), Mr. Weird-Kitty, drink, spoon, and where to find mom or dad. Oh and he points to himself when we say "Grant." He is doing quite well at walking and talking.

Grant is turning into his dad and dad is teaching him new things. He likes to eat Ritz crackers whole, he really likes bread and toast, he's been taught to scream when mom or dad chase him (that's dad's fault), he likes to throw and kick balls, and basically be outside. His favorite thing is when we go out to the fenced baseball fields and he is able to run around wherever he pleases. They just irrigated the lawns so playing with the "dirt-poop" was loads of fun. He loves to play in the sand and dirt. He can sit there for hours playing with the dirt. In fact he prefers the dirt over swinging in the swing.

We get all sorts of compliments at the store and at church. He is the biggest flirt. He will see someone, smile, and then shyly hide away and keep peeking at them. At church he begins sacrament meeting staying close by but by the end of sacrament meeting he is trying to get people's phones, pretending to hand them his toys and then quickly taking them back, and running from one entrance of the chapel to the other. He has become the ward entertainer although usually when he has an audience that he is trying to show-off for he will often trip and fall and then cry. It's a good thing they think he's cute and funny otherwise I might get some complaints. We have a few months before nursery begins so we will see how he will do then. I am tempted to start having him start going in there with me on a regular basis but as soon as he starts to get attached to the leaders we will move so we will see what happens.

On to mention his babysitting, he is doing really well with them. In fact when we went to their house trick-or-treating, he quickly went in their arms and was perfectly happy when we pretended to leave. He does make me feel bad in the mornings because he usually cries when I have to leave him at their house. But they say that he only cries for about 10 seconds after I leave. That little stinker, he's just trying to make me feel bad.

We are all doing great and we are happy where we are although we are ready to leave Cedar City.
