Angela B-Day, Joseph Awards, and Grant

It has been a long semester and it is almost over. We are finished with finals April 29th. Yea! But we have to keep persevering and finish our work.

This past week was my (Angela's) birthday. Joseph tried to redeem himself from last year and make a cake for me again. The photos tell it all. Needless to say he forgot to spray the pan (again) so instead of frosting the cake with a knife I thought it would be more convenient to drizzle the cake with frosting. That didn't turn out well either so thus it turned out kinda funny looking but it tasted wonderful! I think Joseph is so cute when he tries so hard. I told him next year he can either buy me a cake or we can make it together.



This last week was also a very busy week for Joseph not only my birthday on Tuesday but then on Wednesday we all went to Rockville, UT for him to receive an award. Sadly we found that it was just a town meeting where they decided that his drawings of the addition to the town post office would be approved by the town council. It was a good experience for Joseph, I think, for him to see the process of building a town building but we wonder if it was really worth dragging Grant the 45 minutes there. So it seems that it will be approved and Joseph will receive the ability to work with the architect and help through the entire process of designing the building. One thing that he has found to be difficult is seeing what people decide in regards to building design. The people on the council decided things that he did not do originally and he questions their judgment but he has to do what they want and keep his thoughts to himself.

Then after the Rockville project on Wednesday he had an awards presentation/banquet on Thursday. He presented his Google Sketchup project to the CIET college accreditation board. So basically a whole lot of important people from across the country. He was really nervous but he did a really good job. After his presentation he had to set up a display for everyone to look at and to ask him any questions about his project. I was so proud of how professional he was and how well he explained some of the confusing things regarding his topic. After that there was finally the banquet where he received a certificate of being the CIET Engineering and Technology Outstanding Graduate. These things weren't too difficult except for the fact that he had to stay on top of his regular studies. He/we got through it and we are glad last week is over and that the semester is almost over.






So after all of that here are some fun pictures of Grant on the swing that is in our apartment complex. Just this last week it was warm enough that I felt that we would try the swing and see if he liked it. It turns out he loves it! So here are some photos/video of him giggling while swinging (and his crazy mother that seems to try to scare him but never works).





As an update he is almost 10 months old. He still has his 7 teeth and we are waiting on the fourth bottom one (it might be scared to come out). He is officially crawling and not more than two days later he began standing up. Then he fell down in his crib and had a nice bruise on his nose for a week. Oh and I cut his hair, so if his hair looks a bit shorter in the images that is why. It looks pretty good but it was sad because it was a defining moment that he isn't my tiny little baby anymore but growing up into a toddler. He is also trying to talk. We have caught him saying "da-da"a few times and "aagh" all the time. He is quite the growler ("grrr"). All is fine down here in Cedar and we can't wait to get going with our lives (away from school- too bad that will be another 3-4 years).
